As we walked the journey with the daily impacts of ALS, we learned something so very valuable. Love, and more specifically enjoying love in every moment, even in the very simple moments. We so wanted to share more during our journey, but we were so busy living and enjoying our moments. Rick kept saying that I was writing the storyas we lived and that I would have time later to share and help others benefit later. So now, per our vision to help others, I am sharing pictures, stories, and hopefully inspirational moments to others through blogs, social media, and speaking engagements. Our goal through sharing our love story is to educate the world about ALS and other motor neuron diseases while reminding people to see love and share the love in every moment.
Maris Health LLC will be donating 10% of their proceeds of sales and returned NBraces (a neck support brace) to A Love Story foundation. They also provide customers with the ability to donate NBraces to us. These donations are funding Project Embrace so that we can provide neck support braces to organizations that help people in need with ALS or other motor neuron diseases. This was something that was such an benefit to Rick and we took on the venture in order to help others not struggle and focus as much as possible on living out their love story of life.
Additional project details on which organizations we will be donating to will be announced in March 2019!
As co-founder of this foundation, co-founder of two companies, full time care taker, silent partner (aka working on behalf of my beloved), Step-Mom, grieving widow, amongst other things you could call me; I have not cut my hair since the diagnosis of ALS. It is time, and had the idea a year ago to use the opportunity to have fun, raise awareness, raise a little funding for 'Spreading the Love' project, and donate this long hair to Locks fo Love (locksoflove.org).
The project and date of campaign and cutting will be announced in March 2019!
Last year, A Love Story foundation committed to match the donations for our Team- A Love Story up to $1,111. The team met the goal! ALSf also matched the donation for Team Rick in Shreveport, Louisiana for $266. Bringing the total matched to $1,377 and the total donated to the ALS Association to $2,754. We are working to raise funds so we can match donations again this year and raise even more for ALS support and research through the ALS Association. The Walk to Defeat ALS in Shreveport is 9/28/2019 and soon to be announced for Oklahoma. We will be announcing plans soon!
